Patrick E. Flynn, a native of northeastern Pa., began his study of guitar at the age of 12. After receiving a B.A. from Wilkes University, where he studied classical guitar and composition with Richard Metzger, continued his studies with guitarists Spencer Reed, and Bill Washer as well as internationally renowned jazz guitarist and Guitar World columnist Vic Juris.
He is a founding member of the critically acclaimed group, Mere Mortals, which released three albums and scored a charted hit with the song, “Unreal”, co-written by Flynn. The group also received a Billboard Magazine Writers Achievement Award and opened for such artists as Fuel, Joe Walsh, The Hooters, Eddie Money, and Missing Persons. Mere Mortals toured nationally playing venues ranging from The Elbow Room in New York City to the famous Whiskey in Los Angeles.
As a versatile established guitarist, Pat helped to form Still Small Voice, an eclectic new age ensemble which released two albums engineered by Rob Eaton, noted credits include Pat Metheny, and Madonna.
During 2002, Pat had the opportunity to join forces and establish the modern rock band BENT BLUE; co-writing the majority of the material on two very successful albums released by the band. The songs were produced by world renowned Los Angeles based producer and long time Beach Boys and Brian Setzer engineer Jeff Peters. BENT BLUE opened for Matchbox Twenty, and Third Eye Blind; enjoyed impressive international radio airplay and toured throughout the United States.
In 2008, Pat also co-founded the band, Underground Saints, releasing in 2010
the critically acclaimed album, “Broken Machines”, with songs produced by
Bret Alexander(The Badlees) and Hollywood Recording Artist Aaron Fink (Breaking Benjamin). The band also opened for Kings of Leon, and David Bowie.
Pat has also had the opportunity to study with the legendary Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane & Hot Tuna) and Certified Guitar Master Tommy Emmanuel.
Pat is working on an upcoming album with the rock group Farley. He is also a founding member of The Tom Petty Appreciation Band, as well as Mullen, A Salute to U2. Pat is also currently recording an album with Chad Szeliga, drummer for Breaking Benjamin and Black Label Society.
Pat continues to produce, and appears on numerous other studio recordings, performs live with a number of singer / songwriters, enjoys teaching guitar and is a registered BMI songwriter.
